Miles Boaz joined us the 7th of July. I was ready for him in April, so the four day delay was very difficult for me. Isabella came on her due date, so I was expecting Miles to come early since he was #2. I started having some signs of labor on Sunday, so I called my personal midwife and sister in TN. "Hurry Lydia, I bet he'll come quickly." Lyd arrived Sunday night to a spotless house and my suitcase by the doorway. I had no food cooked or in the refrigerator b/c I didn't want to have to re-clean the kitchen and I was convinced the food would go bad during my 3 day stay in the hospital. Let's just say I wasn't thinking clearly, focused on the labor, and at a highly emotionally fragile state.

Sunday night. No baby. I am so sad. It is not going like my labor with Isabella. Very scared about the pain. Want to get it over with. Next time I'm not telling anyone my due date. I feel pressured. (I wasn't really pressured, like I said, highly emotionally and not thinking clearly.)

Monday. Buy every voodoo herbal drug out there to get baby out and take it like clockwork. Walk two miles. Sit on exercise ball. Cry. Pray for God to bring my baby. Sorry for the false alarm Lydia.

Tuesday. Continue voodoo meds. Why aren't they working? More exercise, tears, and seeing people stare at the 9 month prego. I tried everything. Maybe they can strip my membranes again tomorrow? Considering caster oil.

Wednesday. Go to early morning appointment with midwife. Stress test okay. Midwife says "he is happy in there, not coming out for awhile probably" I cry on the table. Membranes stripped again. Discuss caster oil. Discuss inducement. "I'm scared he's going to be enormous!" Cry.
Head to Kroger. Buy caster oil and O.J. Chug it. (Not that bad actually.) Take a nap. Wake up. Caster oil works! Sleep again. Caster oil works! Contractions 3 minutes apart. Joseph takes Isabella to Papa and Nana. Contractions 2 minutes apart. Hardly any pain. Maybe this one just won't hurt that much? Joseph gets home. "We have to go right now!" Arrive at hospital. Hot outside. Walk in parking lot to speed up labor. Drivers stare. Go in hospital. Midwife says: "what are you doing girl?" Me: "I took caster oil." Checked. Dilated more than before at appointment. Walk the halls. I hate it. Give me an epidural, I can't handle this. I go in the room, they lower lights and prepare the laboring tub. Tell midwife to give me an epidural. "Just get in the tub. See how you do." I get in the tub. I love the tub. Water calms me and helps with the pain. Joseph and Lydia get Chick Fil A. Joseph has chicken breath in my face. Pain is getting worse and hard to breathe through. I hate this. It's terrible like I remember. Want them to break my water so it will happen faster. Lydia encourages me to wait. "Just ten more minutes." The time frame helps me. Everyone keeps telling how great I'm doing. "Then why isn't this baby out?" I love my husband. I also am happy someone gave him gum. "10 more minutes..." "O Lord, help me!" They break my water. Get back in the tub that I love. Midwife: "Get out of the tub or you are going to have a water birth." I stand up to get out. Doesn't work, another contraction keeps me from getting out. I see Joseph and Lydia look at each other in panic. Finally make it to the bed. This is terrible. Everyone who said it wouldn't hurt as much the second time is a liar. Where is the bar? "I need the bar! I see my stretch marks in the mirror and in the midst of all the pain still manage to think "I really hope these go away." Pushing. Lydia pushes the mirror and my midwife out of the way. "I need a little push Ab." Push. Lydia catches my son. No tearing at all. Lydia is congratulated. I hear Miles cry. Joseph cuts the cord. My baby is put on my chest. I am so happy. Only a gift as great as this is worth all that pain. He is beautiful. I have a son. God is good. God is great! I feed my baby who is really happy to eat. I marvel at how amazing it is at their God given instinct to eat. One hour of wonderful bonding, I wish I could have had this with Isabella. I hope I don't pass out again. They are pushing my uterus like crazy! I guess they don't want me to pass out either. Let's get out of this room. This bed is super uncomfortable. Miles has a bath and hates it. "Joseph, aren't you glad it's over?" "Next time all I'm writing on my birth plan is 'Give me an epidural'" What a joyous time, I'm starving.

O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, this planned long ago. (Isaiah 25)

Looking back.
It really wasn't as bad as the first time.
I am thankful for my birth plan and that my nurses and midwife honored it.
I think everyone should have midwife if possible! :)
A lot of people think I am crazy not to get an epidural, and while I'm in all that pain, I do too. The positives of it are very motivating for me though. My labor was only about 3 hours of terrible. I did not have a C section. I did not tear at all. I had control over my body. I was able to move around (this is a huge deal.) I could feel what was going on and push out my baby. I wasn't hooked up to anything. Natural birth is just that. Natural. While the pain is difficult, there are positives that helped to balance it out. I will say this. God does not mess around with punishment. Genesis 3 "I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children." A good reminder of how much God hates sin.
I am so happy Lydia was there to catch Miles Boaz. What a gift!
I praise God for the good friends and amazing family to rejoice with us and love our children. Please walk beside us to help us raise them in the fear of the LORD!

Independence Day!

We headed over to the Goggins house for some 4th of July fun. Everyone was really nice to me and told me how good I looked. Isabella had an awesome time feeding the cows, a pony ride, and sitting under a big tree on a porch swing watching fireworks with mommy and daddy. It was a really sweet and peaceful family memory.

With Isabella I was prego by myself, which was sad. With Miles I had two good friends prego with me at the same time! :)
I think our due dates were about one week apart each. I told Amy and Melissa I would be them since it was my second. Amy had Sophia. The day she was d/c from hospital Melissa went in and had Eliana. The day Melissa was d/c from hospital, I went in and had Miles. Pride goes before the birth in my case. I am thankful that God gave me good friends to waddle with and the three of us healthy babies!

We headed (I waddled) to Smith Mt. Lake for one last adventure before Miles arrived. We rented a pontoon boat and headed out on the beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. I would do this every weekend if it was financially possible. Being on the water is one of my top five favorite things to do. It is also a special treat for just us to go and experience new things as a family. I am so thankful for Isabella and enjoy watching her grow into a big girl. She didn't quite know what to think of the boat, and you can see the motor put her to sleep. :) She had a great time, and I was especially thankful that she wasn't miserable in the life jacket.

Blueberry Hill - Blueberry Picking!

We headed up to the mountains to pick blueberries! Yum! They may be my number one favorite fruit. (You know they have to be a favorite in order for me to hike my fat prego self in the hot sun to pick.)
Not a big blueberry fan? I recommend the book "Blueberries for Sal" to make you more enthused about blueberries.
I loved picking a handful of fresh blueberries and stuffing them all in my mouth. I did that very often - Joseph made fun of me.
Isabella loved the blueberries too. They are expensive, so a treat at home. She couldn't believe she could eat all she wanted. It was super cute when she discovered that Daddy had a huge bucketful she could grab handfuls of -like Sal!-
We didn't haul our big camera into the actual field, but below is Isabella visiting the goats, that say "BLEEECH" and walking with her sweet little bucket. :)

BIG SISTER PREP

Baby Miles (Isabella says "Mileshh") was talked about quite often in the attempt to prepare Isabella for her new role as a big sister. She really liked (and still does) her "Big Sister" book. I really wanted one of those sweet prego mom shots with kid, but it was pretty difficult to get, as you can see by the attempts.

Strawberry Pickin'

Joseph, being the super awesome husband that he is, let me run into Macy's and buy this strawberry outfit for Isabella. We picked up Chick fil a as well (using our coupons of course!) and headed up the mountain for some strawberry fun.
It was a little late for strawberries, so we didn't have as many to choose from. The strawberries they did have were small and super sweet (delicious!) They would have been perfect for jam, but I was too scared I would ruin it, and the strawberries are pretty expensive. (I have a hard time trying new recipes b/c I get so angry when they don't turn out b/c of the $ wasted.)
It was hot and a little buggy, so perfect picking weather. Isabella was really excited to be able to pick and eat as many strawberries as she wanted. A fun new experience of freedom (after we taught her not to eat the green ones...)

They had some horses that Isabella got to pet too. It was very exciting. We were hoping this would help her not to say "moo" whenever we asked her "what does the horse say?" It didn't. We had a lot of fun though.

This was the day that Joseph tried the spicy chicken sandwich. He was impressed.

Welcome our Swagger Wagon (Refer to Swagger Wagon post) "Mildred" who we call "Millie" for short. G.Papa blessed us with this much needed gift for our growing family. We are so thankful for Millie and all the memories we will have in her/she will take us to. Thank you for the blessing G. Papa!!!

Fun in the Sun

One thing I really like about Lynchburg is being able to be "white trash" whenever I want. Everyone in Lynchburg is not white trash, but there are just enough people who are that you can do white trash things without getting the judgmental stares you could expect from other areas of the USA.
It is not unusual here to see people grocery shopping with super tight ripped sweat pants, the occasional mullet, or meeting someone who considers McDonalds fine dining. So you can understand why we feel the freedom to not cut our grass for two weeks and throw a blow up sprinkler pool we purchased from Big Lots on the lawn while our daughter runs around in a swim diaper and some purple camo water shoes I purchased at a thrift store. (Oh, and the fat pregnant mom who sports spandex shorts b/c it is the only thing in the world that is somewhat comfortable for her enormous body.)
So, three cheers for Lynchburg and the freedom to feel dressed up if you purchased your whole outfit from Target.

Dessert & The Brown Family

I made a chocolate cake (Lyd's recipe) and peanut butter pie (Connie's recipe) that were amazing, if I do say so myself. I do not reccomend consuming these if you are concerned at all over calories. :)
The Brown family was kind enough to stop in and share the dessert with us. They were in town for Amanda's graduation from Liberty University! The Brown's are on the top of our list of favorite people. (I may want to be just like Beth when I grow up..)

Several years ago I asked her about having five kids. She replied, it was very difficult, but all the most rewarding things in life are.

My sweet little Anna is expecting her first baby very soon now! I am so excited God blessed Anna and James with a little girl! I can't wait to meet their little one and talk with Anna about the adventures that motherhood brings. Anna will be an excellent mom. I am so thankful for her friendship. God orchestrated our friendship from the start, as He knew I would need the support and encouragement she has faithfully given.

True friends are one of God's best gifts.

Pennsylvania Trip

Lydia & I headed to PA for a visit with G&G. We left the kiddos with the in-laws and made our trip. It was a good visit. I was sad to see the difficulty they had doing simple tasks, related to their health conditions. I was touched at how dependent they are on each other.

I remember visiting several years ago to help Grandma while Grandpa was in the hospital. She asked me teach her how to pump gas, because she had never done it before. I thought "what, she doesn't know how to pump gas??" and later on "how sweet that she has never had to pump her own gas." Grandpa took care of things in his own specific ways and Grandma took/takes great care of Grandpa.
While it is hard to see Grandpa unable to proceed with life as before, I feel the noticeable deficit without his management is a testimony of their marriage that worked like clock work.

Of course they have their issues with each other as all couples do, but I pray that my grandchildren will look to Joseph & me and notice that...

I don't eat very well when my husband isn't with me, I look forward to my wife's visits all day, I do things the way my husband liked, even when he becomes blind and will never know if I go in a different order while arranging the medicine, I hold my wife's hand when we sit together, I make sure to buy my husband the snacks he likes, I buy my wife jewelry because I know she loves pretty things, I ask him questions to make him feel included in conversation when others may have forgotten he is there, I pull my granddaughter aside to tell her to take care of Grandma while I am in a hospital bed...

Grandma and Grandpa celebrate their 65th anniversary this week. I am thankful for their marriage and their love for each other.

Ohio

We headed to Ohio to see cousin Becca do a smashing performance in Romeo & Juliet. Troops included the Graves family from TN, Mike & Mags from Boston (with the new little Jonah) and Uncle Al from PA! It was a weekend filled with happy memories and a kid always screaming. Aunt Lisa did an A+ job of feeding/hosting while remaining calm. We saw an enormous dead fish in a remarkably small pond, and we discovered that road trips get much harder as Isabella ages. We have since purchased a DVD player for the car. Nothing like a little mindless activity to make the time fly by!

We headed to the Pam & David's house for dinner one Friday night. We really love the Goggins. I give Pam a lot of credit for not liking animals and having a dog, cows, goats, & chickens. :) We got to know this lovely family when I tutored Alston the summer of my junior year at LU. Such a privilege! Cassidy, Alston's older sister, was the flower girl in my wedding. She was a big hit and did a perfect job. I am really thankful God has given me a mom like Pam to look up to and keep me laughing.

Alston really like jumping with me. :)

Jackson LOVES to run in a field. Joseph and I get great joy from watching him run with the wind. Jackson drives us crazy, but he really is a great dog who fits in well with our crazy family.

Isabella sports a sweet hot pink dress from Maw Maw & Paw Paw. Ab makes Mombo's signature fruit trifle. It was actually as good as Mombo's (who is famous for forgetting to give all the ingredients in her recipes...) Positives: The fruit trifle is light, a little healthy, and extremely delicious. Negatives: The fruit trifle is expensive, took an hour to make r/t chopping up fruit, and needs to be eaten in two days. It reminded me of home/mom while eating it. I wonder what dishes will remind our kids of home when they have flown the coop?

We are so happy this long winter is over and we have a chance to show off our fat thighs! (If only everyone thought they were as cute on adults as they are on children.)

Sweet Haven turned ONE! Isabella and I are so happy we could join in the celebration of lovely Haven. She is a delight. Lyd did a great job for her party. She made a delicious strawberry cake (of which I enjoyed two huge pieces) and had Haven looking extra pretty in a bodacious tutu and headband. It's wonderful to discover the joys God has in store for you as you see your children grow.

As I have entered motherhood, I have observed the passion that mother's have in their baby product selection. Some mothers are intense about this subject to the point of making you feel like a bad mom if you do not go with their recommendations. While I have grown to understand why a good sippy cup or exersaucer can be worthy of a long conversation, it really doesn't end the world if you pick another brand.

That said, I would like to give a high recommendation for Carter's and Melissa & Doug products. I have purchased/been gifted with quite a few of their products and have never been disappointed.

SHINGLES! Oh no! Poor Mombo had a case and had to head home early. :*( Thankfully Isabella did not get the chicken pox from her shingles! Whew!

She did get a chance to help me arrange the guest/play room, teach Isabella how to eat with a spoon, and play with Isabella before she had to go. She will just have to stay twice as long for the next visit.

Why does my mom thinks it's cute when I look crazy?

There are few things better than reading a good book with someone who loves you!

Boy are the days flying by! Before we know it Miles will be here and I will be zombie like from lack of sleep.

The snow is gone, hopefully for good, and we have started to work on the yard. Isabella is a very good walker now, so we have all started to don our white trash clothes and head into our muddy yard to play/work.

We need a fairy to grant the following wishes:
-A week to work in the yard (mainly Joseph...)
-Someone to cut down some unwanted trees and branches.
-Someone to help with the deck we plan on building (contingent on Joseph winning the "Biggest Loser" competition at work. He has lost 25 pounds so far, and is looking good!)
-A good deal on a ton of mulch and large rocks.

Please pray for Joseph especially as work has become more time demanding and he wants to get the garden and outdoor jobs done.

I just want to plant pretty flowers everywhere. :) I am considering planting from seed since it is a lot less expensive. I have also been pruning a lot. Hopefully it won't kill them...

Working outside helps us to think about biblical truths.
EX: Repeatedly getting caught on thorns makes me think of the "sin that so easily entangles us."
Trying to pull weeds up from their roots is difficult, much like it is painful to get to the root of my own sin and repent.
Watching things grow makes us marvel at how God chose to provide food and beauty for us. God's creativity is worthy of much meditation!

Anniversary #2!

Two years ago today I walked down the aisle to my fiance. Little did I know two years from then I would be back in Lynchburg and pregnant with our son Miles Isaiah. Our lives have not gone according to our plans, but I rejoice to say that God's plan for us is more rewarding and sweet than I knew to be possible.

It was difficult to adjust to being a wife and having the pregnancy hormones within two months time! Things got real fast, and our uncertain future became much more scary with the added responsibility of a baby.

God has been testing our faithfulness. We say "children are a blessing!" - then realize we think that only when they come on our time schedule. I say "women should submit to their husbands." but then constantly see the Eve in myself and my sinful to desire to "rule over my husband." We say "we must love the body of Christ!" and then fail to be generous with our time and money because of our own selfish desires. We say "God will provide!" then cry over an uncertain future.

I praise God for revealing our sins through our marriage/parenting/relationships with friends and family. I praise Him for giving us a way of escape and conforming us to Christ's image. I praise Him for his patience with our sinful states and that He is slow to anger. I praise Him for faithfully providing in the past. I praise Him for His future grace! I praise Him for showing us our past foolish decisions and promising wisdom for the future.

I am looking forward to the future and pray that we will point people to Christ through our marriage increasingly each year. I am so thankful God has provided me with such a wonderful husband who loves and serves God. My Italian hottie is the best earthly gift God has ever given to me. :)

This year for Valentines we celebrated with our church family at Redeeming Grace Baptist. It was a good time. We played the newlywed game. We came in second. So close to that gift card! :( We were losing for most of the game, but came back at the end when they asked a lot of food-related questions. :)

Isabella really likes Minnie Mouse. She thinks Mickey is Minnie and likes to go around the house pointing out all of our Disney items. (There is a shamefully large amount...)

Isabella's favorite books are the flip up or the touch books. So far she has perfected the sounds for the following animas: Dog, Cow, Duck & Cat She often crawls through the house barking.

We had a wonderful party for Isabella at the beginning of December. We were so happy to celebrate with close friends, Aunt LaLa, and both sets of Grandparents! I made an assortment of dips (with contributions from Nana and Toni.) Then we had a super cute cake made by Stacey Wilson (who I highly recommend!) Isabella sported a home-made tutu courtesy of Aunt Lydia. I was surprised at how much Isabella enjoyed herself. The icing from the cupcake kept her awake, and extremely happy, for a good five hours! She enjoyed visiting with the familiar faces as well as opening presents.

Papa McKinley prayed for Isabella's future marriage/husband. Paw Paw Hamilton prayed for her to heed discipline. Pops Hunt prayed for her to have a grateful heart. Daddy prayed for her salvation.

Thank you God for blessing us with this amazing gift for one year!

We covet your prayers as we strive to honor God with the opportunity He has given us to be a God-glorifying family! If you know us at all, you know we need a LOT of prayer!

In the Fall Tabitha came to visit! In the Bible, Tabitha was noted for her good works. I think she was named very well. Her life is an encouragement to me.

During the visit I got a great deal on the following groceries! The total was $68. After Kroger discounts and coupons, the total was $7.38! Whoo hoo!!! While we were checking out Tabitha kept saying "I feel like you are stealing!" This was awkward, but I was glad she was excited for me. :)

Mombo Visit

Mombo came to visit, and the time just flew by. Don't worry, it wasn't all fun and games. She made four curtains for me the last day she was here. Isabella was thoroughly entertained and educated by Mombo. (Joseph and I were as well.) Come again soon please!

A visit from James and Anna Swanson
Fun late nights with Reed and Toni (and soon Abel!)
An especially beautiful hardwood outside our house that is showering red and yellow leaves down
Watching Bella get cuter by the minute (and more independent!!)
Isabella's conversations. These started at 9 months
Isabella following us around the house
Lydia Keeton being born (pictures will be posted later)
A house that is closer to being finished
A washer and dryer, (woo hoo Nana & Papa!)
A new camera to capture it all!
I was denying fall for awhile because I was so sad to see summer leave, but I have now embraced the pumpkin. One key motivation to the embrace was a pumpkin spice coffee I purchased at Joe Beans. When you come visit, we will go get some. Yum!
I never really enjoyed Fall until I lived in Lynchburg. It is so beautiful here. God truly is magnified by His creation!

Joseph recently purchased the album "To Be Like Jesus" (Sorry my italics aren't working.) We got it for Isabella, but it has already made me cry and convicted me multiple times. I praise God for giving these musicians the ability to creatively communicate God's truth.

Here are a few excerpts that I have benefited from.

July Fun

July was a fun month. I feel I have been robbed of my summer as the days, although "longer" have flown by very quickly. This is the first summer in years that I haven't been able to get a tan. (I know my life is so hard.) I am anxious to get the house completed so I can have a routine for my life. Of course, then something else will happen that won't allow it and such is life.
Things I Am Thankful For:
Small Group. I look forward to becoming closer to our friends and seeing how the Lord will use us to glorify Himself. "they will know Me by your love for one another..."
Garage Sales. I have probably annoyed all of my friends talking about my great deals, but it is so exciting to be able to afford fun things for Bella, the house, etc.
Sermons. I really should listen to them daily as they really motivate me to be holy and I learn so much from them! I recommend John Piper & Paul Washer especially.
Extras. Some people don't have clean water, I worry about finding curtains I like on sale.
Missions at Redeeming Grace. I am so excited to see the direction our church is headed! The unity in the desire for God to be glorified is beautiful. I saw this clearly at a recent missions meeting.
Telephones. It really is amazing how they work. I am so glad to be able to have frequent conversations with people I love so dearly.
Hope. That he who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete it. I am a failure, but the One who showed mercy and grace to me is not. In this I hope.

A Draluck Time

After a great family vacation with the McKinley's I stayed later and visited Tabitha. It was a great visit where I ate Tabitha out of house and home. It made me very sad that she does not live closer since she is my "bosom buddy." Isn't God wonderful to bless you with special friendships that edify & encourage?

Let's just say my new family is a little excited about Disney. Actually, hardly a day goes by where I don't here about something Disney related.

We had a great family vaca in Florida. We joined up with a super fun and amazing couple the Farleys and we conquered Disney and hung out in Coco Beach

Things that happened:

Papa danced (literally) down the Main Street at the Magic Kingdom with Bella in his arms. (The second thing he said the first time he held her was "I'm going to walk you down Main Street at Disney if the Lord allows.)

It rained, but it in no way ruined the trip. Actually it was better for Bella b/c it cooled things down.

Isabella got to go out on the beach and in the ocean for the first time.

I gained weight. (Nana and Papa bought me food.)

Isabella tried to cut teeth.

Joseph turned 23 and all of his presents (except one) were Disney themed.

Isabella rode Dumbo (the pink one!) with daddy and mommy.

Liz, Tyler, Joseph, and I ate at the DQ a lot.

Isabella rode the Winnie the Pooh ride. It proved to be a little to much for her tummy. She threw up on pooh bear in the gift shop. Nana said "atleast it was on the bear and not his shirt, so it won't show up."

Minnie Mouse met Bella and thought she was awesome.

I realized I am getting old, because one of my favorite parts of the trip was finding super nice silverware that used to be in the Disney hotels for two dollars per 6 utensils.

We recently purchased our first home! ...let's just say, that it needs some work. Mombo came to the rescue!! She told us how to do things the right way and brought food, helped with my mondo laundry job, and babysat so Joseph and I could have a date night. COME BACK SOON MOMBO! (although, we may step up your job list to Mexican level next time.)

One of our favorite things about VA is the distinct and relatively long lasting seasons. The dogwoods were so beautiful as well as those purpley trees I cannot recall the name off. God's creation is so wonderful! Just imagine what it looked like before God said "To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'"Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

oseph drove all night and we ended up in Augusta around 6 a.m. Nana & Papa took care of Bella while we caught up on sleep and then Joseph and Papa headed to the Master's. Joseph loved it. I am so glad he got to go. Nana and I headed to the mall to do some shopping. Isabella and Haven (Isabella's brand new cousin!) made out very well indeed. Nana bought Bella a beautiful Easter outfit. Joseph and I got to go the Master's the next day. It was very pretty and I stood within a few yards of Tiger Woods. As always, we had a pleasant time with good fellowship.

Cherry Blossom Festival

It was a pretty & windy day in D.C. We had a nice time, but have vowed to never return to D.C. during a festival due to the high volume of people. We started out with a quick trip to the zoo where I saw panda bears for the first time. Then to starbucks where Nana & Papa treated me to a coffee. Yum! We met up with Lisa and David later on and began our journey around D.C. We look forward to when we can return and enjoy the free educational oppotunities again.

Brown Family

Mr. Brown made breakfast for us Saturday morning. He made the best eggs I have ever had. He has a gift.

We love the Brown's and want to be like them when we grow up. :) We had such a nice time with them and good conversation. Their kindness to us is a blessing.

I am sad that Isabella is growing up so fast, but I love seeing her discover new things (like herself in the mirror.) Her smile is the most beautiful smile in the whole world, and it gets bigger and more frequent daily. She currently can roll over on her side. She also likes to hike both of her chubby little legs as high up in the air as she can and then toot. Her little bottom packs a mean punch.

Pennsylvania Here We Come!

I met John in Quantico (sp?) and we headed to Pennsylvania. It was a very short visit, but a sweet one.
It was so fun to introduce Isabella Jean to Elizabeth Jean! I never imagined showing Grandma my baby. I guess I am really a grown up.

The trip should have taken about 12 hours in driving total. It ended up taking me about 20! It was a good visit and I had a good time talking with John, so it was worth it. :)

Goodbye Hemlock Hill

John and I stopped in to see Aunt Janet as well. She sold her beloved house to some "very nice people who will take good care of it." It was strange to see it empty. The house seemed sad without people in it. I love how you can put so much of yourself into your home. In a way it is a self-portrait of you/your family.

John & Aunt Janet on the bridge. I think the bridge was John's idea and Uncle Wayne designed it. He was a genius. Lydia and I made some of the concrete underneath it and have our initials in it. Uncle Wayne was very patient with our concrete making ignorance.

Isabella and Aunt Janet got along very nicely.

First Bottle

Tuckered Out

My poor husband drove the entire trip. He worked Thursday until 12 a.m. then Friday from 7-4pm. Then he drove to TN. (I did offer to drive by the way.) Driving is tiring, but it is also a great time for conversation with your best friend. :)
Joseph collapsed when he got home. Isabella, however, perked right up after her five hour nap in the car.
There is nothing better than this.
